In the book Swedish Modernism, authors Helena Mattsson and Sven-Olov Wallenstein write that Sweden’s architectural movements have always incorporated tradition from earlier periods. “To move ahead is also to move backward to the true roots; to return to the authentic tradition is to move ahead,” they write.
