Michelle Boudreau designed the bedrooms in this William Krisel in the Las Palmas neighborhood of Palm Springs to have eye-catching lighting, because why not create a bedroom that has as much wow factor as a living room or dining room?

Primary bedrooms offer an opportunity to create a relaxing sanctuary that will help relieve daily stresses. “It can exist in a vacuum on a certain level because it’s a private space, so this room is more subtle” says interior Designer Christine Ho of Breathe Design Studio of this space she created in a mid-mod minded new build in Austin, Texas. “I wanted it classic, clean and timeless so it wouldn’t compete with the views,” The pendant lights from Lumens offer a dramatic effect hanging from the high ceiling and they also bring in a bit of color. The golden FLOR rug lightens the vibe with its subtle geometric pattern and glowing color.

Modern Bedroom Decor Idea 3: Deeper Tones
In this primary bedroom designed by Michele Boudreau, The palette and textures create a quiet, inviting feel where old and new are interwoven. “The owners wanted to be welcomed into their bedroom with a sense of calm,” Michelle says. “I continued the serene vibe of the greens-and-neutrals palette and layered in natural textures with grasscloth wallpapers and the owners own special vintage pieces.”
The seating area complete with a coffee table invites you to spend more time in the space—options translate as luxury! The open shelving offers places to display special mementos and collectibles adding even more warmth and personality to the room.

Modern Bedroom Decor Idea 4: Keep it Calm & Clutter Free
Bedrooms should be a place where your mind feels instantly relaxed. Keep collections and displays to a minimum and prioritize clear surfaces. Go for larger scale art here versus groupings of smaller pieces. Prioritize open walkways and pare back on furnishings and accessories.

Modern Bedroom Decor Idea 5: Amp up the Texture
No matter which color palette you choose or whether your approach is minimalist or full and collected, one thing you want to emphasize in a bedroom is texture. Texture plays an important role in that cozy warm feel. Layer bedding, incorporate chunky or knit materials and play with weft and weave. In this bedroom even the ceramic lamps with their mottled and thickly glazed finish add to the tactile sensation of the room.
