Discover the perfect Mid Mod kitchen cabinets for your style and budget.
Kitchen cabinets can significantly impact the look and functionality of a kitchen space. Unlike other cabinet fabricators, Boxco Studio’s American-made cabinets are custom and they specialize in European-style frameless cabinetry that delivers not only hand-crafted construction but also top-quality materials and finishes in a rainbow of hues that leave a modern kitchen looking sleek, simple, and with an organic timeworn feel. The brand relies on the highest-quality plywood materials, like premium veneer-core plywood, and presents this versatile material in an innovative and original way.

“We offer simple designs executed very cleanly,” Gallagher Hannan, president and lead designer, explains. The team at Boxco are designers first and foremost, who make an intentionally designed line of cabinets. “We use high quality materials in a simple way, allowing it to age beautifully, and we do not use any edge banding.” Instead, Boxco cabinets leave an edge of plywood exposed, a specific style Boxco designers have developed to add a feeling of authenticity and weight to their cabinets.
Color in the Kitchen
Boxco offers a wide range of custom color finishes. These are created using Osmo® wood wax—a plant-based product derived from sunflower, soy, and thistle—known for its natural ingredients and high-quality design. The colors are food-safe and non-toxic, perfect for kitchen cabinetry, where safety is top priority. “This is not a spray apply veneer, which other cabinet fabricators are doing,” Hannan adds. “We do hand applied waxes that leave a transparent finish, allowing you to see the beautiful wood grain of the plywood.”

The result is an American-made cabinet that feels simultaneously organic, modern, and warm. Boxco also does a small line of laminates for durability and a matte finish. This option is scratch and fingerprint resistant, soft to the touch, and comes in subtle but stunning shades.
Sustainably Made.
The brand uses sustainable materials as much as possible. The plywood used in the cabinet boxes has a eucalyptus and poplar core (both fast-growing tree species), and most of the materials hail from vendors that rely on intentional tree farming, whereby the plants are grown using solar energy. Plus, all the brand’s plywood products are formaldehyde-free, void-free, and sourced from sustainably managed forests.
“We also work with Medex®, a strong and water-resistant MDF that, when finished with our natural wood wax colors, has a beautifully dynamic visual texture,” says Hannan. Medex is made with low-emission resins and 94% pre-consumer recycled wood content. It is hardy, resistant to warping in humid environments like kitchens.

An Easy Design Process
Boxco works with designers, architects, and homeowners. “We love working with residential clients especially and helping them design their kitchen layout,” says Hannan. The design process is simple and straightforward. Clients receive support from Boxco’s design team throughout every phase of their cabinetry order, from initial planning, which includes a complimentary design consultation, to installation.
Production can take as little as 8 to 12 weeks, and Boxco utilizes an efficient digital fabrication system that is computer aided. “This way, everything is made with an extremely high level of precision, which is great for modern cabinetry with clean lines, because there is nowhere to hide in this design style,” says Hannan. The streamlined workflow has the added bonus of keeping prices reasonable. “For the quality, longevity and eye to design, our pricing is very competitive.”

Hannan recommends that Boxco cabinets be installed by a professional cabinet installer. “We are cabinet designers and not general contractors or installers, so we encourage clients to work with professional installers because there are a lot of other things that go into designing a kitchen beyond the cabinets themselves,” says Hannan. But Boxco has a detailed installation guide to ensure a smooth process that your installer will easily understand, and the Boxco team is always a phone call away if your installer has more specific questions.
